Gary Mellor – LondonGAS –
I’ve used this system water analysis kit for a couple of years now.
It’s a vital part of a quality engineers toolkit – esp. if you’re getting into VDi2035.
BS7593, as a standalone document, remains an advisory action; (at the time of writing – Jan 2022) a code of practice, to give its official title.
However, the integration of BS7593 into Part L effectively upgrades the status of BS7593, from an advisory action to a mandatory one, meaning we have to test system water annually, so this kit is essential.
To establish whether a power-flush is required, to diagnose corrosion faults within the system/boiler, to test system water during a power-flush to see if chemical cleaners have been removed, to check TDS reading are the same as the mains, it would be impossible without a system water analysis.
For every day domestic work, the VDITK002 is all you need, it includes an EC1 meter, which tests the Electrical Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids and Salts. The PH meter accurately tests PH, much more accurate than litmus paper.
It includes Iron and Hardness reagents, plus everything you need for calibrating both test meters.
Plus, the help you get from Ricky is outstanding, I asked 1,000 questions and he patiently answered them all.
I highly recommend.
